i made this in a rush for an art market. i had speedily made these because i wanted something smaller for people who didn’t want one of my bigger paintings. i didn’t put much thought into them at all and after the market i was tired and disappointed that none of them had sold so without batting an eye i put them in a bag, shoved it in my closet, and forgot about them. 

it wasn’t until i was re-organizing my closet that i saw them again. remembering how i had felt when i made them / disappointed and annoyed at myself.

seraphina: burning ones

a hebrew name for girls. directly translates to “burning ones” and a reference to seraphims from jewish scripture. seraphims are the highest ranking angels and are known for their intense passion and zealous love. The name seraphina can remind the baby to follow their own passions through life, making the most of each moment. (team, 2023)

maybe these painting will provide inspiration to live every moment with passion and zealousness. something i wish i had done when i created them.  this could also pose as a question. asking yourself why you do what you do, make what you make, what purpose does it serve? oof maybe it’s just for fun? is the situation is worthy of your love/passion/fury?
